The Small Pelagics FIP in Mauritania

The Mauritanian Small Pelagics fishery is currently engaged in a

Fishery Improvement Project: the FIP.

WHAT IS A FIP?

Fishery Improvement Projects are multi-stakeholder  initiatives  aimed at improving the sustainability, practices, and management of fisheries to meet the standards required by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and MarinTrust.

PROJECT PARTNERS

To implement and carry out the action plan of this national and strategic project for the improvement of the Small Pelagics fishery, many stakeholders (government, local authorities, associations, private and public companies, etc.) have  come together providing institutional and financial support,  as well as qualified human resources.

Today, the FIP  is supported by the most important Mauritanian institutions  involved in fisheries resource management, along with many international partners.
